  • Hope deferred . . .

     . . . makes some late chicks?

By now,  I had been hoping and expecting to share photos with you of this sort:

However, I spoke with Hanson Hay and Grain yesterday, and found out that our order for baby chicks has been delayed until May 18th, because they were out of Buff Orpingtons (seen below.)

    Sigh.

One more month to go, then, I guess.

So, instead of posting for you about the sweetness of baby chicks, I will fill you in on the beauty of Spring in New England.  (Including an update of my little seedlings.)

First, let's go out back and see what's growing!

    Grass:

    Weeds and Raspberry plants:

    Leaves:

    Daffodils and Four O'clocks:

    Bleeding Hearts:

    Bird Party!

Can you see him?  They blend in...

    Step into my garden...

    Buds!

    Now for the front yard.

    Crocusses:

    Tiger Lillies:

The Wisteria buds are really getting nice and big!

    Rhododendrons:

    Maple buds:

    Dirty dog nose (from digging):

    My herb garden:

My Mom's garden bed with peas, spinach, carrots and onions:

    Here's my Lupine:

Remember how it looked three weeks ago?
    Shall we compare?

Now.  Let's go indoors to find out how the seedlings are doing.

    Tomatoes:

    Compare with April 11th:

    Basil:

    Compare with April 11th:

    Little by little,
    day by day,
    the sun shines
    and we find growth.
    I am amazed
    that out of the soil,
    God made man;
    and from it He draws
    all the signs of life,
    for our nourishment
    and our toil.
None can fathom the beauty of His creation!
    How great is our God!
Who can know the depths of His wisdom?
And who is wondrous in mercy like Him?
Who can compare with the power of His might?
    There is none like Him.

You have worked wonders, LORD -
No one compares to You -
    Should I delcare each one?
    Their number is too great.
    --- Psalm 40E (Psalm 40:5)

The first firefly of the season:

Yesterday I planted Canterbury Bells, Deliphinium, Morning Glory, and Sweet Pea.

    I'll keep you updated!

    1,000 eProps!

Like they're going out of style...

Hm... how come 1000 eprops only actually counts for 2?  Maybe Xanga should work on keeping its inflation index in check.

@A_A_Plewes - Clearly Xanga is worried about its inflation index.  Apparently, they're not the only ones who need an economic overhaul.

Thanks for the e-props.  I guess I'll go buy myself something prett-e.

Hey! I saw your plugz, and was relieved to see it. One of the few plugz that made me glad. :)

    As
I read this post I started thinking of these lyrics.... save the trees
and kill the children. Oh, America. Your God is waiting for you to
return to Him, that you might be healed!

Good post. I salute you, military wife!

Thanks so much for commenting! I actually had those lyrics at the bottom of my post, cause I was reminded of that as well! Love the pics by the way that first one with the baby chick should be a postcard or something!
